Do you treat lymphedema?
Lymphedema is a complex condition that presents as excess swelling. This can occur after lymph node removal or radiation and it is a notable complication following breast cancer treatment. Therapists that treat this condition are trained to reduce and manage the swelling through hands-on treatment and wrapping the area with specialized bandages. I am not able to treat lymphedema at this time but I do have a great referral network if this is the type of treatment you require. If you are unsure please book a treatment and I would be happy to help you and guide you in the right direction.

What should I expect from my massage treatment?
Expect to have the soft tissue complaints that you have been experiencing addressed, while at the same time deeply relaxing techniques will be used to activate your parasympathetic nervous system. Some areas might be sore the next day and I recommend moving as this can be very beneficial to healing. Typically clients leave feeling tired but recharged.
What should I expect from my first session?
Within your appointment time we will do a detailed interview so that I can understand the best approach to address your complaints. This should take about 15 minutes. Once we are in agreement I will leave to wash my hands and you can get on the table. The table is heated and very pleasant. Treatment will vary depending on your needs and the appointment you have booked in for but with feedback from you I will be able to adjust pressure and depth to make sure that this is the best treatment possible.
What is your cancellation policy?
Each appointment time is fully dedicated to you. I take a lot of care to ensure that the space is clean and ready for you. With less than 24 hours notice this time cannot easily be filled by another and you will be charged 100% of the booking fee should you need to cancel.
I do understand that at times the unexpected can happen. Should this happen with less than 24 hour before your appointment time please email me at prairiespringmassagetherapy@yahoo.com.
As I am working with people that may have compromised immune systems if you arrive ill and I am unable to treat you, you will be charged 100% of the booking fee.
What if I am running late for an appointment?
Please email me at prairiespringmassagetherapy@yahoo.com
to let me know if there is a problem. Unfortunately out of respect for the next client I might not be able to add time onto your appointment.
What kind of breast surgeries do you work with?
Breast surgeries are undertaken for a wide variety of reasons and I am able to work with many of them. Â
Some common surgeries are breast cancer surgeries of a lumpectomy, mastectomy and elective resizing. Later stage expanders and reconstruction can also receive treatment.Â
Elective surgeries such as implants, lifts, and reductions can benefit esthetically from having lymphatic and scar tissue work.Â
I am also a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and welcome any gender affirming surgeries to my clinic.
Am I expected to tip?
I strongly believe that massage can be a part of your overall health management and as such I do not encourage tipping. While I appreciate the gesture very much I have chosen to donate the money left in tips to the Know Your Lemons Foundation for their amazing education campaign about the early signs and symptoms of breast cancer. If you wish to support this then you may make a contribution however it is not expected.
Is breast massage common?
All massage therapists that graduate from the 2200 hour program at Mount Royal University do receive training in breast massage. As this is a treatment focus for my clinic I have taken additional training that addresses many of the common concerns surrounding this sensitive area of treatment.
